The Publications Committee membership consists of volunteers and members of SCDM. The primary function of this committee is to collaborate and oversee the timely publication of Data Basics, SCDM’s quarterly peer-reviewed journal featuring articles on industry news, innovations, solutions, and current trends.
Publications Committee members and SCDM staff collaborate to review articles submitted by authors of the various domain from all across the globe for inclusion in the journal. Each Data Basics Issue has a set of co-editors, who coordinate and lead the review process and tie the articles together with a theme and lead-off each Data Basics Issue with a welcoming “Letter from the Editors.” During the review process, all interested Publications Committee members liaise with the authors to ensure the articles are ready for publication. Additionally, co-editors work with the SCDM Creative Services Team to ensure the Data Basics Issue graphic versions are finalized prior to official publication by SCDM.
Each year Publications Committee members conduct outreach through various means to solicit SCDM members for timely industry-related articles.
Publications Committee members also work together on related projects, such as defining Keywords, improving article formatting so articles appear in index and database search engine results, developing and enhancing standard operating procedures and governance guidelines for operational purposes and identifying better-quality ways to achieve peer review and collaborating with other SCDM Committees (e.g., Educational Committee).
The Publication Committee has a Committee Chair who supports and manages the operational requirements such as liaison with other SCDM stakeholders, helping to coordinate the monthly meetings, action items and the projects that the Publications Committee undertakes.
