The Membership Committee plays an important role within SCDM. Our goal is to better serve current SCDM members and attract new members by providing and improving the membership benefits that could satisfy members’ needs in the most cost-effective way. The main responsibilities of the Membership Committee include but are not limited to:
- Review and assess current membership benefits
- Propose new membership benefits as applicable
- Promote SCDM memberships across the world
The Membership Committee meets on a regular basis to evaluate the current membership benefits to identify benefits that members feel the most valuable and benefits that members feel the least valuable. We also seek feedback from the committee members as well as SCDM members via a survey on potential benefits that are of value and could be added to the current benefits package. We propose our recommendations on membership benefits to the SCDM board after carefully studying the feasibility of the proposals. Additionally, we work closely with SCDM regional forces in areas such as China, Europe, and India to find ways to better serve SCDM members and promote SCDM in these areas.
An organization like SCDM cannot function smoothly without a lot of members and volunteers. The success of a committee wholly depends on its members. We are a community that needs its members to be actively involved to be really successful and happy. As a committee focusing on membership benefits and promotion, we are in great need of more volunteers from a different background (CRO or industry or academics) with different levels of experience (junior or middle or senior) to represent different types of members and contribute from different perspectives. New members bring in fresh ideas. It helps broaden our view and allows us to see a bigger picture. SCDM is a very important resource for people in Data Management and we need to work together to keep it strong and growing.
